On Thursday, we left Okinawa and returned to Seoul, where I had just enough time to repack my bags, do a little shopping, and have a really nice weekend with friends.
I am writing to you from Tokyo’s Narita Airport, awaiting my flight to Boston. It’s another old school summer vacation for me and a long overdue visit with family and friends. My sleepy little seaside New England town is a pretty special place, and the people there really know how to do summer. I can’t wait to give you the secret tour. There will be evening walks along the water and afternoon swims. Lobster will be eaten, fried clams will be devoured, music will be made and Wii golf will be won.
There are boxes of film waiting for me at home and a couple of old cameras to mess around with. I’m going to have a hot steamy love affair with my collection of cookbooks, which have been tucked away in a storage unit for almost 4 years. Just wait until I get my hands on some organic yogurt, some fresh herbs, French lentils and a nice fresh piece of Atlantic cod. It’s going to be positively scandalous.
And one of the biggest highlights is that I will be able to see some of you lovely people. Add a little East Coast roadtripping, and it sounds like a perfect summer to me.
See you when the jet lag clears.
